Lake Wylie is a census-designated place located in York County, South Carolina. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 8,841. Lake Wylie sits on a peninsula that runs along the edge of Lake Wylie, a reservoir named for Dr. W. Gil Wylie in 1960. It is a Charlotte, North Carolina suburb.
Swimmable bodies of water include Lake Norman, Mountain Island Lake, and Lake Wylie.
The truth is that there are no alligators in Lake Wylie. The only time an alligator has been seen in Lake Wylie is when it was deposited here after being caught elsewhere (and quickly picked up by Wildlife officials). At Papa Doc's Shore Club, there is also an FAKE alligator head floating about the docks.
(Lake Wylie-AP) May 31, 2004 - A stone monument sunk decades ago by the creation of Lake Wylie could hold the key to pinpointing the exact location of the South Carolina-North Carolina state line. The only problem is that the three-foot-high stone marker, which was constructed in 1815, is nowhere to be seen.
