The Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is part of the United States National Historic Trail System. The National Trails System and the North Carolina Trails System are two of the most well-known trail systems in the United States. The State Trails System is a network of trails throughout the state. It honors the Overmountain Men of the Revolutionary War, who came from what is now East Tennessee and traversed the Unaka Mountains before fighting in the Battle of Kings Mountain in South Carolina.
